We visited the Riu Palace Cabo in January 2018. This is my review of the hotel!
CUPS
The Riu Palace is participating in a no-straw movement and they have reusable plastic cups that are decent in size – I’d guess about 16 oz. Our friends never used the bubba mugs (huge travel mugs) that they brought. The plastic cups fit perfectly in these inflatable drink holders I ordered from Amazon [affiliate link].

TURTLES
We went in January, which is part of turtle hatching season, and were treated to a turtle release to the ocean!

FOOD & DRINK
Having stayed at the Riu Palace Costa Rica in March 2016, we couldn’t help but compare the two. A la carte restaurants were very similar (down to the same menu), with similar quality. The buffet was good for a resort, but with less fresh shrimp, lobster, and crab than we we had in Costa Rica. Drinks of similar (great) quality.

ROOMS
Like most resorts, the King size bed here was two doubles pushed together, so there was the dreaded dip in the middle. Rooms also had warm tones, rather than the modern look that our rooms had in Costa Rica. Otherwise, a good size with a loveseat and TV.

LOCATION
We knew the hotel wasn’t on a swimmable beach. For the record, the nearest swimming area is Medano Beach. You can look that up on a map to get a feel for how long the walk is from the Riu. Overall, the view from the Riu is spectacular!
